On this Uganda gorilla trekking safari goes to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The Park is home to more than half the word population of mountain gorillas. The main attraction in this Uganda Safari is the Mountain Gorilla Trekking. The gorilla is the largest primates on earth.
Besides the Gorillas, you will also have an opportunity to see other primates. They include the red-tailed monkeys, chimpanzees, baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others.
Bwindi forest is also home to 120 mammals, 51 reptiles and 310 butterfly species. There are 27 species of frogs, geckos, chameleons, 163 tree species and 104 fern species.
Bwindi is also home to over 1000 flowering plants. There are also well as over 350 species of birds such as the hornbills and the Turacos!

Detailed 3 day Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Meet and greet by Uganda safari representative. This will be at your Kampala hotel or the Entebbe Airport. This morning your 3 day Uganda gorilla trekking safari will start with a briefing. With your luggage on the van, leave from Kampala early morning.
Your Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari will proceed south-west driving through Kampala. You will stop at the Equator for some photo moments and in Mbarara for lunch.
Proceed with the drive that takes you through Savannah grasslands. Take note of the banana plantations and herds of Ankole cattle. The cattles have some amazing incredible long curving horns.
You will ascend into the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. The area is famous for terraced farming and mountain scenery to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
You will arrive in time for dinner and overnight at Nshongi Gorilla Resort.
About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is in the Southwestern part of Uganda. this is on the border of the Great Rift Valley. Bwindi is habitat to more than 350 mountain gorillas. They today are perhaps the most remarkable animals found on the African continent.
The park has approximately 346 bird species and more than 200 butterfly species. The main tourist activity within the Bwindi Forest is Gorilla trekking.
There are and there are 5 section today available for tourists to trek daily. This include 11 gorilla family groups to spread between Bwindi and Mgahinga in Uganda.
Bwindi has 163 tree species plus 100 different species of ferns all recorded here. This park is among the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bwindi National Park is under the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), a government organization.
Day 2: Uganda Gorilla Trekking – Bwindi Forest
Early morning entry into the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is in preparation for mountain gorilla trekking in Uganda.
Bwindi Forest is an equatorial rain forest. The forest is spectacular offering a dramatic, forested landscape. The forest is dense, but crisscrossed by many wildlife trails allowing access.
Mammals recorded include the endangered Uganda Mountain Gorilla, rare golden monkey and buffalo. Others are elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest hog and others.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain vary quite a lot. It is according to the movements of the marvellous primates.
The thrill of spending time and observing the mountain gorillas is a rare. this is a moving, awesome and exciting adventure.
The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal. It is thus an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them. This is as they interact the others.
Those that are not going for the Uganda mountain gorilla safaris have alternative activities. Children under the age of 15 and the those with air borne diseases aren’t allowed to trek. As an alternative, they will have community walk to observe traditional.
Dinner and overnight will be at Nshongi Gorilla Resort.
Day 3: Departure – Bwindi – Kampala
This will be the last day of your 3-day Uganda gorilla trekking safari. You will start the day by waking up to your breakfast. With all your bags in the safari van you will drive back. This is a journey to Kampala with a stopover for lunch en-route.
You will make a stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers. Here you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted. They use methods passed down through the generations. You will end your Uganda gorilla trekking safari with a drop of at your hotel in Kampala.
