Uganda Gorilla Trekking Safari Itinerary
Day 1: ENTEBBE – KAMPALA
You will be met on arrival at the Entebbe International Airport. This will be by our Uganda safari representative. He will give you a brief on the 7 days Uganda gorilla trekking safari. Enjoy a short transfer you to your Kampala hotel. Overnight will be at Fairway Hotel booked on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: KAMPALA – KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Your driver guide will pick you at 0800hrs. The drive from Kampala to Kibale is on the newly constructed high way. The drive will therefore take approximately 4 hours. You will arrive in Kibale Forest National Park in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon nature walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This will reward you with primates and bird encounters. They include the fabulous blue turacco, noisy hornbill among others. You will have your dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge.
Day 3: KIBALE FOREST – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to an early breakfast before reporting to the park HQ. You will trek chimps on this day of your 7 day Uganda gorilla trekking safari. You may opt to have chimpanzee habituation exercise. This is at an extra cost and involves whole day chimp tracking. Chimpanzee trekking holds you up for about 4 hours in the forest. After your lunch, you will enjoy a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will check it at Mweya Safari Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
About Kibale National Park
Kibale National Park contains one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of tropical forest in Uganda. Forest cover, interspersed with patches of grassland and swamp, dominates the northern and central parts of the park on an elevated plateau. The park is home to a total of 70 mammal species, most famously 13 species of primate including the chimpanzee. It also contains over 375 species of birds.
Kibale adjoins Queen Elizabeth National park to the south to create a 180km-long corridor for wildlife between Ishasha, the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Sebitoli in the north of Kibale National Park. The Kibale – Fort Portal area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to explore. The park lies close to the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within half a day’s drive of the Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.
Day 4: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
This morning we shall follow Kasenyi trail in search for lions, different antelope species and herds of buffaloes among others. In the afternoon a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel between lakes George and Edward will reward you with a plethora of birds and different mammal species. The concentration of wildlife along this channel is overwhelming. You will return to your Queen Elizabeth safari lodge for dinner and overnight.
About Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National park is a notable Ugandan safari destination for wildlife tour, chimpanzee tracking adventures and birds watching safari. It’s Uganda’s most popular game reserve, its stretches from the crater foothills of the Rwenzori range in the north, along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha River in the south. The park shares 4 different districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Bushenyi and Rukungiri. It’s located southwest of Uganda, around 376Km from Kampala (Uganda’s capital city). The park was named after Queen Elizabeth II and was established in 1954.

Day 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH – BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
An early breakfast will start your 7 day Uganda gorilla trekking safari day. Embark on a road trip through the Ishasha sector. This region is known for the tree climbing lions. It is here that you will also you’re your picnic lunch. Proceed to Bwindi Forest National Park through the picturesque and breathtaking scenery. The drive is reminiscent to one’s experience driving through central Europe. You will arrive in time for dinner and overnight at Engagi Lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking
Early morning entry into the gorilla sanctuary for your gorilla trek. Bwindi is a World Heritage Park. This is home to just over half of the world’s last surviving mountain gorilla. The population of these giant apes stands at 880 individuals. Today’s trek can take from one to six hours or more. You will go to elevations in excess of 2270m and over rough terrain. The area around Buhoma is an excellent place for watching primates and birds. The forest is home to 120 species of mammals and 346 species of birds. There are 202 species of butterflies and 163 species of trees. This makes it one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. You will be allowed an hour’s stay in the presence of the gorillas before returning to your lodge. Enjoy your evening at leisure with dinner and overnight stay at Engagi Lodge.
About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda is home to the rare endangered mountain gorillas in Uganda. This Uganda National Park is strategically located at the edge of the western rift valley (Albertine rift valley), in South Western Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Uganda is shared among Rukungiri, Kisoro and Kabale Districts of Uganda. Bwindi impenetable rainforest is one of those few in Africa that has flourished throughout the last Ice Age covering around 331 square kilometers with an Altitude Range that goes from 1160 meters in Ishasha gorge up to 2607 meters at Rwamanyonyi Peak. Start your last day of the 7 day Uganda gorilla trekking safari with an early breakfast. Departure will be at 0700hrs to Kampala. You will have a stop for photography at the Equator in Masaka. Proceed to Kampala and onward to Entebbe for the late evening flight.
