Ngorongoro crater is the 8th natural wonder of the world. It is a unique, world famous caldera with the most abundant wildlife. The caldera is exhibiting more than 120 species of mammals. You will also visit saline lakes such as Lake Magadi.
This is a magnet for flamingos and other water birds. You will see pools full of hippos. There are also the endangered black rhinos and birds. Birds here include secretary bird, white stork, kori bustards, crowned cranes and ostriches.
It is for sure a landscape of sheer beauty. You will end your crater tour with a break for lunch. After this unforgettable experience it will be time to enjoy a sunset. This is at the comfort of your Ngorongoro crater lodge. Dinner and overnight is at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Called the eighth wonder of the world and stretching across some 8,300 sq km, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania boasts a blend of landscapes, wildlife, people and archaeology that is unsurpassed in Africa. The volcanoes, grasslands, and mountain forests are home to an abundance of animals and to the Maasai.
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It features the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera.
Eight million years ago, the crater was an active volcano but its cone collapsed, forming a 610-meter deep crater, with sides so steep that it has become a natural enclosure for a very wide variety of wildlife, including most of the species found in East Africa.
Although quite large, covering an area of 311 sq. km the 20-kilometre wide crater accounts for just a tenth of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which also includes the still active Ol-Ndoinyo Lengai volcano (meaning “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language), which last erupted in 1983.
Day 2: NGORONGORO – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to an early Serengeti Ngorongoro safari breakfast. This will be followed by departure from Ngorongoro. The Serengeti Ngorongoro safari heads to the Serengeti National Park. Serengeti plays host to the great wildebeest migration.
On arrival head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area. This area provides a variety of habitats for wild animals. You will drive south of the Seronera River, along the Sogore river circuit.
Here you may see Thompson’s gazelles, topis, ostriches and possibly also predators. You will enjoy a drive to your Serengeti safari lodge. Check in for dinner and overnight at the Lobo Wildlife Lodge.
Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park covers 14,763 km2 of vast open plains that stretch across the Tanzanian area between the Kenyan border and the outskirts of Lake Victoria. It has an abundance of wildlife with the numbers been estimated at well over 3 million.
There is even an active volcano within the Serengeti National Park – an interesting place to visit. The Serengeti ranges from 920 m to 1850 m in altitude and is not as flat as many travelers believe. Amongst these different altitude levels you will be able to discover the most remarkable animals; hidden in valleys or on top of beautiful rock formations.
One of the most popular times to visit Tanzania, especially the Serengeti, is when the famous wildebeest migration takes place. The annual wildebeest migration usually crosses into the Serengeti between May and early June.
It is then that millions of wildebeest cross over Tanzania searching for water and food as the season changes. This is a magical sight to behold and a major drawing point for travelers who visit the Serengeti during this period.
Imagine being able to witness over 2 million wildebeest crossing the beauty of the Serengeti; nature is clearly unrivalled in this National Park in Tanzania!
Day 3: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
An early morning game drive starts your Serengeti Ngorongoro safari day. This will game drive will be at 06.00hrs. You will return to your lodge to enjoy a late breakfast at 9.00am.
After a short rest embark on a mid day game drive. You will stay in the wilderness for the rest of the day. Return back to Lobo Wildlife Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Enjoy an early breakfast before departure. Check out of your lodge with a game drive. This will be as you leave Serengeti National Park. You will head towards Arusha via the famous Olduvai Gorge.
This area is also known as ‘The Cradle of Mankind’. The gorge lies on the same spot where there was once an ancient lake. This has covered by thick layers of volcanic ash.
This helped to carefully preserve the world’s earliest records of mankind. Proceed to Arusha where upon arrival you will be dropped at your hotel.
