Detailed 7-day Rwanda Safari Holiday
Day 1: Kigali – Akagera National Park
You will be met in the morning by our Rwanda safari rep. This can be either at the airport or your hotel in Kigali. You will enjoy being briefed on the 7-day Rwanda safari holiday. This is to let you know what to expect on this Rwanda wildlife safari.
You will then drive North east to Akagera National Park. The parks enjoy the great biodiversity of wildlife in Rwanda. There are various attractions of mammals. On arrival you will have the evening at leisure. Enjoy your dinner overnight at Akagera Game Lodge.
About Akagera National Park
Akagera national park is named after the river that runs through it. Just from a scenic point of view, the park is savannah in nature. It is among Rwanda’s natural treasures.
You will also find the open savannah plains, the hills and lakes filled with animals. There are broad leaved forests, as well as the candelabra Euphoria trees. There are also the burchell zebras, elephants, masai giraffes and buffaloes.
In Akagera, you will get many species of antelopes. They include; topis, defassa waterbuck, the roan antelopes and bohor reedbuck. Others are the large Eland antelopes, Oribi common duiker, the semi aquatic sitatunga antelopes.
Others are the klipspringer as well as lions all in the Akagera National Park.
When it comes to the primates, you will as well find many groups of olive baboons. Others include the velvet monkeys, the wide-eyed bush babies as well as the blue monkeys.
You will also come across the catlike genet, the black masked civet and black tailed mongoose. Other wild here are warthogs, bush pigs, serval cats, and the lions are seen rarely.

Day 2: Akagera National Park

Day 3: Kigali – Nyungwe Forest National Park
Start the 7 day Rwanda safari holiday with an early breakfast. Today you join your guide for yet another exciting drive. This will be a long to Nyungwe forest National Park. The drive is full of exciting sightseeing. You will arrive later in the evening. This will be in time for dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
About Nyungwe Forest National Park
Nyungwe Forest National Park lies in the South Western part of Rwanda. This is at the border with Burundi, and it sits on an area of about 1020 sq.km. The park is on an elevation of 1600-2950m above sea level.
Nyungwe forest is said to be the largest and best-preserved montane rainforest. This is in the whole of East and Central Africa which receive an annual 2000mm of rain.
Nyungwe National Park is an important water catchment for Rwanda. It contains many natural resources that are quite useful to the Rwandan people. The beautiful green forest is also quite important to two of Africa’s great rivers.
Nyungwe Forest National Park harbors habituated chimpanzees. There are other 12 other primates species. This includes a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus.
The park is a birder’s paradise with over 300 species. They include 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal. The rain that falls on the east side feeds the Nile and on the west runs to the Congo.
The Nyungwe forest protects more than 1,000 plant species, at least 120 butterfly species. It is home to over 310 bird species are all confined in the park. 121 forest birds, 27 Albertine rift endemics especially the Chapin’s flycatcher, Rockefellers’ sunbird. This virgin destination is ranked as the best birding safari destination in Rwanda.
Still here are 11 out of 23 Guinea-Congo forest biome species. There are also 71 out of the 74 of the afro tropical highlands. They are inhabited in Rwanda are all concentrated in this park.
Day 4: Rwanda Chimpanzee Tracking

Day 5: Nyungwe Forest – Gisenyi town

Day 6: whole day excursion on Lake Kivu
