Included in your 3 day Murchison Falls safari are 3 game drives within the Murchison Falls Nationsl Park. While on this action packed game drives you will commonly see Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, Uganda Kob, hartebeest and waterbuck.
On the 3 day Murchison Falls safari, you may also spot oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, shy sitatunga, bush duiker, warthog and bush pig. Large carnivores within the park include lion, leopard and spotted hyena. Chimpanzees and olive baboons head the list of six species of primates found in the park.
Crocodile and hippo will be seen along the banks of the Nile. Some of the more common birds that can be seen include goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbill, cormorant, saddle-bill stork and the rare shoebill stork.

Detailed 3 day Murchison Falls Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala – Murchison falls National Park
After an early breakfast, our driver guide picks you at 7:00am. This will be followed by a briefing on the 3 days Murchison falls safari program. It is after this that you will set of for the 6 hours’ drive to Murchison falls National Park.
Yout 3 day Murchison Falls safari shall have a stopover in Luwero District to pick a couple of fruits, that is to say oranges, pineapples, passion fruits and jackfruits. The drive proceeds to Masindi town for our lunch at Masindi Hotel / Court View Hotel.
You will later drive out of Masindi town to a dirt road for about 20 minutes and get to Murchison falls National Park. Upon clearance at the park entry, the real safari begins.
You are immediately ushered into the Murchison by a number of stubborn baboons lining up along the road. They grapple about anticipating for some goodies, just ensure the windscreens are up else they will snatch anything inviting from the car.
Continue with the drive as you savor the beautiful landscape while occasionally sighting warthogs and other wildlife. The sightings at the top are breath taking. About 300 – 400 cubic meters per second of Nile water force through a tiny gorge of about 7 meters to plunge into a violent tempest in a whirlpool about 42 meters below.
It is such a beautiful sight with incredible picture moments here. After the hike drive to your lodge and check in for dinner and overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
Start the day with an early breakfast at around 6:30am. The driver guide together with the game ranger picks you up at 7:00am for the early game drive.
The early game drive offers you a better opportunity for great wildlife sightings. This is good especially for the nocturnal animals and hunters before they return to their hideouts as the temperature rises.
Your game drives will be concentrated on the Northern section of the park that is more endowed with game compared to the south. Explore the major game trails especially around the area of Paraa. This area is good for game spotting including lots of elephants, lions, giraffes, antelopes, Jackals and hyenas.
You should also look forward to seeing Uganda kob, waterbucks, Jackson’s Hartebeests and hopefully the elusive leopards among others.
At around 11:30am you return back to the lodge for some relaxation moments and later lunch. In the afternoon you will embark on a Boat Ride on the Victoria Nile.
It is the high spot of any Murchison Falls Safari for you get to spot lots of animals at a close encounter. Here expect to see lots of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and many more.
They include those wildlife that come to drink water, refresh and cool themselves off the scorching sun. Some of the animals take to the river sides to eat the fresh grass along the river banks.
The Nile is also a birds’ magnet. You will also be shown the crush point of Ernest Hemingway. The ride takes you close to the base of the Murchison Falls and here you are treated to yet another sight of these lovely falls.
You could if you so wish hike to the top of the falls before the return ride. Later you will return back to Paraa Safari Lodge for your dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game Drive through the park and return to Kampala
The day begins with an early morning rise before embarking on an early morning Game Drive. Today, you will try to catch what you have not seen in the earlier game drives.
Expect to increase your game count and spot more other wildlife. Return to the lodge in time for breakfast before departure. Return back to Kampala with a drop off at your hotel in Kampala
