About Mozambique Island Hopping Experience
The Mozambique island hopping tour allows you to explore some of the 32 islands in this remote part of the African coastline region. This is a 7 nights’ island hopping by dhow giving you a perfect adventure experience in Mozambique.
The Mozambique island hopping involves the setting up of tents on a desert island somewhere. Here you will arrange elegant picnics for lunches under shade. All these while professional guides and local crews leave you in peace. Evening fires and lanterns are lit and food grilled to perfection – smell those Mozambican spices as the lobster cooks!

Mozambique Island Hopping Experience Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Pembe – Ibo
Start the day with meet and greet upon arrival for the Mozambique Island hopping experience at Pembbe International Airport. This will be followed by a beautiful light aircraft flight over the islands and turquoise waters. It is time for your transfer from Pemba International Airport to Ibo Island Lodge.
Ibo Island lodge has spectacular views over the waterfront and tidal bay. The lodge accommodates guests in beautifully simple, yet elegant rooms.
Ibo Island Lodge is dominated with historic colonial mansions with high ceilings. They have been stylishly renovated to accommodate the lodge with various verandas and tropical gardens. The lodge has a spectacular roof top restaurant that provides the ideal venue to watch the sun go down.
Guests will have ample time to explore magical Ibo Island after the dhow safari as the safari returns to Ibo for days 6 & 7 of the itinerary. Overnight at Ibo Island Lodge where you are booked on full board basis.
Day 2: Ibo Island – Matemo
Your Mozambique Island hoping tour departs Ibo Island after breakfast. Today you are out for an exploration into the Quirimbas Archipelago! You will sail into the clearest of blue water with pristine corals below to explore under snorkel.
Turquoise clear waters and beautiful scenery awaits you en route. In the afternoon, take a tour through this fishing village getting to know the ways of these fisher folk as interpreted by your knowledgeable guide. You will stop on the southern tip of Matemo Island and explore this part of the island.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are included in your tour today.
Day 3: Ulumbwa Estuary Day Tour
Ulumbwa Estuary will be your destination of the day on this Mozambique island hopping experience. The beautiful Ulumbwa river mouth beckons and it is here where fascinating rural fishing villages dot the shore.
Start the day by enjoying an early morning sail up the Ulumbwa estuary. Among the things on your ‘to see menu’ are a variety of birds and mangroves that thrive in this area. You will return to our beautiful beach camp set up under the palms on the shores of Matemo Island with enough time to explore Matemo, take a walk of swim.
All your meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in your program.
Day 4 & 5: Quirimba Island
Your Mozambique island hopping experience depart Matemo Island. This is for the exploration south into the Quirimbas Archipelago! Once you reach Quirimba Island you will explore the island that gave the Archipelago its name with its rural villages, culture and old church.
All your overnight accommodation will be in camp and exploring on Quirimba Island and surrounds. You will also enjoy a day trip by dhow to Quisiva Island or similar and/or Mefunvo Island from camp.
Day 6 & 7: Quirimba Island – Ibo Island
Take your Mozambique island hopping a notch higher as you travel back to Ibo Island. The emphasis at Ibo Island Lodge is a mix between guided activities and relaxation and a base from which to explore fascinating Ibo Island.
Partake in guided historical and cultural tours offering outstanding photographic opportunities, wander around the stone town and ruins and wonder how did this all come to be here so far away from the outside world. Relax at one of the pools and order ones of Kissinger’s cocktails, and book a massage for the ultimate island pamper.
Marine based optional activities are also available at Ibo – a full PADI dive centre, sea kayaking, snorkeling and the most popular of all is the dolphin encounter safaris. Your accommodation at Ibo Island Lodge is on full board basis
Day 8: Ibo Island to Depart Pemba
Start the day on Mozambique island hoping experience with breakfast. You will head to the airstrip in time for the beautiful light aircraft flight over the islands. You will be in Pemba International Airport in time for your departure flight.
