Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
You will be met by out Tanzania safari rep on arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. Enjoy a briefing on your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday. This will be followed by a transfer to your hotel in Moshi. This is booked on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: Moshi – Machame camp (9,800 ft)
Early breakfast starts your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday day. This is preceded by a transfer to the park entrance gate. Take your time to register at the Mount Kilimanjaro national park gate.
After meeting your trekking team, you will have a briefing again. Embark on your trek through the lush tropical forest. This takes 5-7 hours of hiking to Machame. You will dinner and overnight at the Machame camp.
Day 3: Machame Camp – Shira Camp (12,600 ft)
Breakfast and begin your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday day. This day you will take 4-5 hours of hiking to Shira camp.
You will pass through the rocky hills with wide views of the Shira Plateau (11,000 ft). Shira camp is on Shira plateau and provides a wonderful view of Mount Meru. Dinner and overnight will be at Shira camp.
Day 4: Shira Plateau – Barranco Camp
You will have breakfast to start your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday day. You will descend to the bottom of Barraco valley. This will be through the Lava tower. There will be numerous waterfalls and streams along the route. This trek will take 7-9 hours. Dinner and overnight will be at Barraco camp.
Day 5: Barranco Cliff – Barafu Camp
Today you will hike past the Karanga camp to the Barafu camp. This takes 7-11 hours passing through lush vegetation in sheltered hollows. Dinner and overnight at Barafu camp.
Day 6: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak – Mweka Camp
Wake up at midnight take something warm. You will start your trek at 1:00am ascending by torch light. Make your way up the paths that are surrounded by the Ratzel and Rebman glaciers. This trek will take you to Stella Point (18,800 ft), in about 5-6 hours.
From the Stella point you will have 2 hours to Uhuru Peak (19,345 ft). This is the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and the highest point on the African continent. From here you will descend to Barafu and then proceed to the Millenium Camp (12,500 ft).
Day 7: Descend to Mweka gate – Arusha
Breakfast and then descend to Mweka gate. You will drive back to Arusha. Check in at your hotel in Arusha booked on bed and breakfast.
Day 8: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast you will drive to Tarangire National park. This Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday drive is about 335km from Arusha town. The park is home to over 500 bird species and various animals. There is acacia and mixed woodland vegetation.
You will also find baobab trees and old palm, black cotton grass Baobab trees. You cannot miss the dense bush and high grasses. On arrival you will take a guided walk. Dinner and overnight will be at the Tarangire Sopa Lodge.
Day 9: Game drive
Start your day on Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday with breakfast. You will then go for a game drive in Tarangire. You will be looking out for wildebeest, elephants, zebras, and hartebeest. There are also giraffes, Impala, Eland, lesser kudu and waterbuck. We can’t leave out gazelle, rhinos, leopards and giant pythons. The list has Thompson’s gazelle, greater and lesser kudu.
We also have cheetah, oryx and gerenuk. The bird life includes Kori bustard, stocking-thighed ostrich and ground hornbills. There are colorful yellow-collared lovebird and pairs of red-and-yellow barbet may be spotted too.
Day 10: Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater National Park
You will begin the day with breakfast. Your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday with then embark on a community walk. After lunch you will drive back to Ngorongoro National Park. Dinner and overnight at the Ngorongoro Wildlife lodge.
Day 11: Ngorongoro Crater National Park
Start your day with an early breakfast. This is to be followed by departure into the crater. Your day on Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday is dedicated for game drive. The Park is a paradise of woodlands and lakes. This provides for abundant wildlife and vegetation.
You will be looking for Gazelle, buffalo, elephants and wildebeest. You may also see all the big cats. Of interest would be the black manned lion, leopards and hyena. A multitude of birds including flamingos are sighted regularly. The rich bird life is due to the soda content in Lake Magadi.
This lake is on the crater floor. Ngorongoro crater is wildly beautiful hence the name ‘Garden of Eden’. Return for dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.
Day 12: Ngorongoro to Serengeti National Park
Your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday starts with an early breakfast. This will be followed by departure to Serengeti. You will stop at Ol duvai Gorge. This is believed to be the cradle of mankind. After lunch proceed to Serengeti National Park. You will arrive in time for a short game drive. Transfer for dinner and overnight at the Serengeti Wildlife Lodge.
Day 13: Serengeti National Park
Early morning game drive to see also nocturnal animals returning from hunting. At this time the lions are awaking in the dawn. During the game drive you might spot buffalos, elephant, giraffe, eland and topi. You may also see kongoni, impala, Zebras, lion and Solitary leopards near Seronera River.
There are cheetahs, hyena, aardwolf, serval cat, Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes. The Black Rhinos, waterbuck, baboon, African wild dog and kongonis too.
Apart from the animals you might spot various birds. They include the ostrich, bizarre secretary, black eagles and acacia woodland secretary bird. There is also the Kori bustard, crowned crane, marabou stork, martial eagle, and lovebirds.
You will return to the lodge for lunch and in the evening, you can relax at the Serengeti Wildlife Lodge.
Day 14: Serengeti to Lake Manyara National Park
Your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday begins with breakfast. This will be followed by departure. Today you will be going to Lake Manyara National Park. This will be a long scenic drive across the Savannah grassland.
On arrival in Lake Manyara you will need relaxation. Dinner and overnight will be at the Lake Manyara Hotel.
Day 15: Lake Manyara National Park
Begin your Kilimanjaro Serengeti Zanzibar holiday day with breakfast. You will then go for an early morning game drive. Expect to see Leopards, Lions, hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeests and buffalo.
You may also see warthogs, giraffes, baboons, zebras, blue monkeys, dik-dik, gazelle and hippos. There are birds like pelicans, cormorants, storks, Flamingos, and cormorants.
In the afternoon after lunch you may go cultural tour or you can go canoeing or take a community walk. Dinner and overnight at the Lake Manyara Hotel.
Day 16: Lake Manyara – Arusha-Zanzibar

Day 17 – 20: Zanzibar
