Detailed 6 day gorilla trekking Uganda Luxury Safari
Day 1: KAMPALA – BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
You will be met by our Uganda safari rep at your luxury hotel in Kampala. You will get some time for a briefing on this gorilla trekking Uganda luxury safari. Enjoy a transfer to Entebbe in time for the 1245 hrs flight to Kihihi.
You will be met on arrival at the airstrip by our guide. You will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive at your Bwindi luxury accommodation in time for late lunch.
Afternoon will be spent exploring the local villages. This will include a visit to the Batwaa people. They are also referred to as the pigmies. Return to Buhoma Homestead in time for dinner and overnight.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is sited in the South Western part of Uganda. it is along the border with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) next to Virunga National Park in DRC.
The park covers a total land area of 331 square kilometers (128 sq). This comprises of montane lowland forests. It can only be accessed by foot due to the thick forests and the rugged nature of its terrain.
Bwindi is also rich in fauna with over 120 mammal species. Of this 10 are primates and more than 45 small mammals. Bwindi is home to more mountain gorilla families. It is generally considered a better area to gorilla track.
Bwindi has 17 habituated gorilla families across 4 distinct areas. They include Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija and Rushaga.
There are currently a further two families being habituated in Rushaga. The gorillas here live in thick tropical forest. Tracking can be challenging as the hillsides can be steep. It can take around 2-8 hours to reach the gorillas.
The parks altitude ranges from 1200-2600 meters. There are five rivers here and a high annual rainfall make it rather humid. The rain forest here is said to be 25,000 years old, and in this time biodiversity has flourished.
This Uganda National Park is also home to an amazing 120 species of mammal. There are 51 species of reptiles and over 200 tree species. We also have 350 species of birds in Bwindi.
23 of the 24 Albertine rift endemic bird species are found here. They include the African green broadbill and bar-tailed trogon.
Day 2: BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
Start your gorilla trekking Uganda luxury safari with an early breakfast. You will then head to the park offices to get briefed and at 8:00am. Embark on the Uganda gorilla trek along the designated trails.
Gorilla trekking might take up to 6 hours depending on the gorilla’s movement. The trek though tiresome, is well rewarding when you meet the apes. You will spend time with and photographing these great gorillas.
Take note of their inviting brown expressive eyes. This is a life time thrill of a wild life adventure only Africa can offer you. After your one hour with the gorillas, return to the starting point.
With picnic lunch done, you will enjoy a transfer back to Buhoma Homestead. Afternoon will be at leisure. Dinner and overnight will be at your luxury lodge.
Day 3: BWINDI – LAKE MBURO NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, head to Lake Mburo National Park. This is another beautiful park that is home to some rare antelopes in Uganda. Lake Mburo National Park is a haven for impalas.
You may also see zebra, warthog, buffalo, klipspringer, eland, oribi and waterbuck. Better yet you can do the game drive on ATV quad bikes; they are much fun. Spend your gorilla trekking Uganda luxury safari night and dine at Mantana Tented Camp.
Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park was gazetted in the year 1933. It was a controlled hunting Area and it was later up graded into a game reserve in the year 1963.
The residents also continued with grazing their own cattle with in the reserve. This is until it was up graded into a national park status in 1983.
The government of Obote put up a decision of up grading the park. This was a part that was intended to weaken the Banyankole, who were supporting the anti Obote rebels.
The lake is also home to over 350 mammal species. They include the zebras, eland, impalas, oribi and buffalos. here we also have water buck, hippos, leopard, reedbuck as well as the hyenas.
With over 13 lakes in the area, this lake also forms part of the 50 km long wetland system that is linked by the swamp. It’s known that five of these lakes lie in the park’s border.
It was once covered with the open savannah and it contains woodland. This is because there are no elephants to tame the unique vegetation. Within the western part of the park, the savannah is also spread with the rocky ridges.
You will also find forested gorges as the patches of papyrus. There are also narrow bands of the lush riparian woodland line in many lakes.
The park also supports the many endangered species of the bird’s and fish. They include the endangered cichlid fish species. The latter have reduced with in the main lake and is the only area where you can find the impalas.
The park gives refugee to over 22 species of palaearctic as well as the afro tropical migrant birds.
The flora is also acacia hockii that is one of the main tree species. There are also five species of the wetland plants. They belong to 5 genera that has been recorded in Lake Mburo area.
Day 4: LAKE MBURO – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
The gorilla trekking Uganda luxury safari day starts with an early breakfast. This will be followed by a drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive goes through Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Here you will spend some time searching for tree climbing lions. After lunch you will proceed to north to Katungulu town. You will arrive in time for an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth.
Proceed to Mweya Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s most popular national parks. This park teems with wildlife like no other of Uganda National Parks.
This protected area is bounded by the high mountains of the Rwenzoris in the north. It stretches along the shores of Lake Edward in the west and hides the remote area of Ishasha in the south.
The natural beauty is overwhelming and diverse. There are green savannah plains with small acacia and euphorbia trees. They are varied with sunken crater lakes and swamps.
It is bound by the snow-covered peaks of the Mountains of the Moon. Not less than 57 different vegetation types have been identified. They can be summarized as the following five. That is forest, grassland, bushy grassland, Acacia woodland and swamp vegetation.
Besides, the park is home to 95 types of mammals. It has the highest number of bird species found in any protected area in Africa!Rich variety in birds

Day 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Start your gorilla trekking Uganda luxury safari with early breakfast. This is before you undertake a game drive in the Kasenyi tracks and the Queen’s Mile. This is in the open savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You have the opportunity to explore a range of wild game here. They include the cape Buffaloes, Leopards, Topi, Elephants, Kobs, Waterbucks and Warthogs. You also have the Hyena, lions, side stripped jackals among other wildlife. There is also plenty of bird species since Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Return to your luxury accommodation in Queen Elizabeth. After relaxation and lunch, you will head to the Mweya Jetty. You will have an afternoon 2-hour boat cruise running along the Kazinga channel.

Day 6: QUEEN ELIZABETH – KAMPALA
