5 Day Gorilla Trek Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: ENTEBBE – KAMPALA
Met on arrival at Entebbe International Airport by our Uganda safari rep. He will brief you on the 5 Day gorilla trek Uganda safari.
This will be followed by a short transfer to Kampala. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. You will overnight at the Metropole Hotel where you are booked on bed and breakfast basis.
Day 2: KAMPALA- BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
The driver guide will be ready to pick you up at 0630 hrs. Leave from Kampala early morning and drive south-west through the city. You will have a stopover at the Equator for photos.
Later proceed to Mbarara where you will be in time for lunch. After lunch you will continue with your drive to Bwindi Forest. The drive takes you through savannah grasslands and banana plantations.
You will also see herds of Ankole cattle with their incredible long curving horns. You will go up the Kigezi highlands, known as the “Switzerland of Africa”.
Arrival in Bwindi will be late in the evening. This is in time for dinner and overnight at Engangi Lodge.
About Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in the South Western part of Uganda. This is on the boundary of the Albertine Rift Valley, on an elevation array from 1.160 m to 2.607 m.
This is a genuine tropical rainforest, spread all over a series of steep ridges and valleys. The park is part of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
It is situated along the Democratic Republic of Congo border. This is next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift.
Bwindi comprises 331 square kilometers (128 sq mi) of jungle forests. This park contains both montane and lowland forest and is accessible only on foot.
The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site.
The forest is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa. In the local language “bwindi” “mubwindi” means “dark place”. This referring to the impenetrable nature of the thick forest.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Reserve was set up in 1942. Later on renovated to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in 1992. In 1994, it was acknowledged as the world Heritage site.
What makes Bwindi Impenetrable is the fact that it covers an area of about 327km2. This is of scrambled vegetation draped over a fissured landscape. The landscape is of the steep, haughty ridges as well as the slippery valleys and high.
Day 3: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Wake up to an early breakfast before reporting at the HQ. Your 5 Day gorilla trek Uganda safari takes you on giant ape tracking. This will involve walking up slopes in the dense rain forest.
You will through different animals’ trails allowing access to tourists. Gorilla tracking is an inspiring and wonderful adventure which one can’t miss.
The Gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal. It is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact.
Return to the lodge later in the afternoon for some leisure time. You will have your dinner and overnight at Engangi Lodge.
Day 4: BWINDI – KAMPALA
After breakfast you will drive with no rush back to Kampala. This will be with a stopover for lunch en-route. Stop at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted.
You will be dropped off at Metropole Hotel in Kampala.
Day 5: DEPARTURE
After breakfast you will end your 5 Day gorilla trek Uganda safari. You have an option of a city tour or behind the scene tour.
This is at a cost and if time allows. You will then be transferred to the Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
