Detailed 6 day Cheap Rwanda Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
You are to be met on arrival at the Kigali International Airport. This will be done by our Rwanda safari rep. You will receive an in depth briefing on your cheap Rwanda tour. This will be followed by a short transfer into Kigali city.
The rest of the day will be spent at leisure. You will have your overnight booked on bed and breakfast at Chez Lando Hotel.
Day 2: Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
Your cheap Rwanda safari tour day will start with breakfast. This will be followed by a city tour. You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre and the Market. Enjoy an early lunch before departing to Volcanoes National Park.
You will visit of Ibyiwacu before going to the twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo. You will be in Ruhengeri Township in the evening. You will have your dinner and overnight at Kinigi Guest House
About Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park, also known as Parc National des Volcans in French. This Rwanda national park sits on the north-western province of Rwanda. This is in a small town known as Musanze (formerly known as Ruhengeri).
The park extends to DRC and Uganda. The amazing Virunga Volcanoes are some the most wonderful sights here in East Africa.
Volcanoes is known for Mountain Gorillas, but also harbors the endangered Golden Monkeys. The park also shelters five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains. They are Mount Karisimbi, Mount Bisoke, Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga and Mount Sabyinyo. The park has a covering of over 160 km2 of rain forest and bamboo.
Several years ago, this same park acted as a base for American zoologist Dian Fossey. She turned out to be so passionate about Gorilla conservation. Her works still live on till today.
The prime attraction of the park is the endangered mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei). There are lots of other mammals that also inhabit its plains. Some of these mammals include: golden monkeys, buffaloes, black-fronted duiker, hyenas then bushbucks.
Day 3: Volcanoes National Park – Akagera National Park

Embark on the day’s activity which is to trek the golden monkeys. After an early lunch you will proceed to Akagera National Park. This is to the East of Rwanda. You will arrive later in the evening. This will be in time for dinner and overnight at a budget accommodation in Akagera.
About Akagera National Park
Akagera National Park covers about 1,120km². This Rwanda National Park is one of Africa’s oldest national parks. Akagera National park was first gazetted in 1934.
The north of Akagera is low-lying grasslands and savannah plains. this is similar in feel to the ‘traditional’ safari areas of East Africa. To the west are rolling hills and valleys more typical of Rwandan countryside.
To the east, the Akagera River feeds into a series of lakes, marshes and papyrus swamps. This constitute central and eastern Africa’s largest protected wetlands. For a small park, Akagera safari can be diverse. This is because there is a variety of habitats, wildlife and birds, and some lovely scenery.
Akagera National Park has had a troubled past. The refugees from Rwanda’s civil wars returned to live in the area in the late 1990s. This cause harm to the environment through cattle-grazing and poaching.
This made the government reduced Akagera by half. They allowed the new residents to stay in one part and protecting the rest.
New perimeter fences and anti-poaching measures have made a huge difference. This has led to increase in animal populations and the national park is now well on the way to being restored.
The wildlife isn’t quite on the same scale as better-known East African parks. There is still plenty to see on an Akagera safari in some beautiful scenery.
Day 4: Akagera National Park
Start your cheap Rwanda tour with an early breakfast. This will be followed by a transfer to Rusumo waterfall. You will pass via the Imigongo traditional handcraft makers.
It is time to sample Mother Nature’s wonderful scene. This beauty of the waterfall is worth the visit. You will return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon you have a boat riding in Ihema Lake.
Your cheap Rwanda tour will visit Nyirabiyoro historical island. This is home to many crocodiles, hippos and other species of rare birds. Your dinner and overnight will be at budget Akagera accommodation.
Day 5: Akagera – Kigali
