5 Day Budget Gorilla Safari Uganda Itinerary
Day 1: KAMPALA – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Pick up from your hotel in Kampala by our safari rep. You will have a brief on the 5 Day budget gorilla safari Uganda. This is to be followed by departure from Kampala.
Drive to the south west of Uganda to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will be punctuated by a stop at the Equator Crossing Kayabwe. The place also features rewarding photographing opportunities. Proceed to Mbarara where you will have another stop for lunch.
Embark on the drive passed Mbarara town with the views of Bunyaruguru Crate. You will arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening. Enjoy your dinner and overnight at Simba Safari Camp.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular savanna reserve and has the widest variety of wildlife of any Ugandan park. The variety of habitats include grassland savanna, forests, wetlands and lakes.
This provides the setting for an extensive range of large mammals and primates. Four of the big five are present and regularly seen. Rhinos are absent.
The park is set against a backdrop of the Ruwenzori Mountains. Additional scenic points are Kazinga Channel between Lake Edward and Lake George and at least 10 crater lakes. The most accessible part of the park is open savanna, but large forest areas are open to the public.
These include the forested Kyambura gorge and the extensive Maramagambo forest in the southeast.
Leopard sightings are common and the Isasha sector is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Huge herds of buffalo and elephants are found in the savanna areas of the park.
An amazing number of hippos inhabit the Kazinga channel on which daily boat trips are conducted. Chimps can be tracked and several antelope and other primate species are present. Giraffe and zebra are absent.
Day 2: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

They include the cape Buffaloes, Leopards, Topi, Elephants, Kobs, Waterbucks and Warthogs. You also have the Hyena, lions, side stripped jackals among other wildlife. There is also an abundance of bird species since Queen Elizabeth National Park. Return to your budget accommodation in Queen Elizabeth. After relaxation and lunch, you will head to the Mweya Jetty.
You will have an afternoon 2-hour boat cruise running along the Kazinga channel. The channel stretches from Lake George to Lake Edward covering 45km distance. This cruise offers you an opportunity to see wildlife at close range.
The cruise also offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. From the boat you will head to your accommodation place. Dinner and overnight will be at Simba Safari Camp.
Day 3: QUEEN ELIZABETH – BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK
The 5 Day budget gorilla safari Uganda tour day starts with breakfast. This will be followed by a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive goes through Ishasha sector in the south of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Here you will spend some time searching for tree climbing lions. After lunch you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrival will be in time for lunch and overnight at Broadbill Forest Camp.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rain forests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants.
More famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 340 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including four habituated mountain gorilla groups that are open to tourism: Mubare; Habinyanja; Rushegura near Buhoma; and the Nkuringo group at Nkuringo.
This biologically diverse region also provides shelter to a further 120 mammals, including several primate species such as Columbus monkeys, baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. There are around 348 species of birds hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
Day 4: BWINDI FOREST NATIONAL PARK – LAKE BUNYONYI

Day 5: LAKE BUNYONYI – KAMPALA
