Detailed 5 Day Affordable Kenya Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi at 0800 hrs. Our representative will brief you on this affordable Kenya safari. Leave driving South through the Masai land to Amboseli National Park.
Your arrival will be in time for lunch at the Kilimanjaro Guest House. Some short rest will prepare you for the afternoon game drive at 1600hrs. Later return back to Kilimanjaro Guest House for dinner and overnight.
About Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park, was known as Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve. It is in Kajiado District, Rift Valley Province in Kenya.
The park is 39,206 hectares (392 km2; 151 sq mi) in size. It is at the core of 8,000 square kilometers (3,100 sq mi) ecosystem. This spread across the Kenya-Tanzania border.
The local people are Maasai, but people from other parts of the country have settled there. They have been attracted by the successful tourist-driven economy. It is also an intensive agriculture along the system of swamps.
This makes this low-rainfall area (average 350 mm (14 in)). It is thus one of the best wildlife-viewing experiences in the world.
Amboseli has over 400 species of birds. They include water birds, pelicans, kingfishers, crakes, hammerkops and 47 types of raptor.
The park protects two of the five main swamps. This includes a dried-up Pleistocene lake and semi-arid vegetation.
Day 2: Amboseli National Park
You will have the full day spent in the Amboseli National Park. This will be on morning and evening game drives.
Amboseli National Park is located at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This park has much African wildlife and the fact that it is a plain makes sighting of animals much easier.
On a clear day, you will be able to see the tallest mountain in Africa, The Mt. Kilimanjaro. All your meals on this day will be at the Kilimanjaro Guest House.
Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park
The day will start with an early morning game drive. This is to have the best view of as much wildlife as possible. This is to be followed by breakfast at your lodge before checkout.
You will then leave with game drive en-route to Tsavo West National Park. This park is also referred to as the Land of the Man Eaters.
Tsavo West National Park is well known for the Lions that terrorized railway workers in the 1890’s. They paralyzed the construction of the Kenya – Uganda Railway Line.
You will arrive at Lake Jipe Cottages or Similar in time for lunch. At 1600 hrs, enjoy an afternoon game drive within the park.
This will be to introduce you to the game in the area. Return back to Lake Jipe Cottages for dinner and overnight.
Tsavo West National Park
Tsavo West National Park is “Full of wild beasts. They include rhinoceros, buffaloes and elephants” from a missionary’s diary written in 1848.
Later in 1900 the notorious “Man Eaters of Tsavo”, man-eating lions preyed on linesmen. As they were building the great Uganda Railway in 1900.
The carriage from which they pulled a traveler is on display at the Nairobi Railway Museum.
Tsavo West National Park has important historic connections. It was a major battleground in World War I.
It is where British and German troops battled for supremacy. The park, located off the main Nairobi-Mombasa road is accessible.
Amboseli offers tremendous views with diverse habitats. That ranges from mountains, river forests, plains, lakes and wooded grassland. It borders the southern Serengeti plains in Tanzania.
Game here include: leopard, cheetah, buffalo, rhino, elephant, giraffe, zebra and lion. Others are plains game, crocodile and small mammals. They include mongoose, hyrax, dik dik and the nocturnal porcupine.
Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park
You will have an early morning game drive in Tsavo West National Park. This will be followed by breakfast and check out. You will then leave for Tsavo East National Park with game drive along the way.
Your arrival will be in time for lunch in Voi Town. After a short rest you will go for afternoon game drive at 1600 hrs.
Later in the evening you return back to your safari camp for dinner and overnight.
Tsavo East National Park
Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya at 13,747 square kilometres. It is situated in a semi-arid area known as the Taru Desert.
It opened in April 1948, and is located near the town of Voi. This is in the Taita-Taveta County of the former Coast Province.
The park is divided into east and west sections by the A109 road and a railway. Named for the Tsavo River, which flows west to east through the national park.
It borders the Chyulu Hills National Park, and the Mkomazi Game Reserve in Tanzania.
Day 5: Tsavo East – Nairobi
An early morning game drive will climax of your Amboseli Tsavo West East safari. This will be followed by breakfast and leave to Nairobi. You will be dropped off at your hotel.
