About Murchison Falls National Park
The Murchison Falls National Park combines with the Bugungu Wildlife Reserve and the Karuma Wildlife Reserve. This forms the Murchison Falls Conservation Area. In addition, it is named after the Murchison Falls in honor of a former chair of the conservation society.
The Falls are a spectacular site to see as the Nile River drops through a narrow gorge along its path northward. A boat excursion near the falls will surely leave you breathless as the nature all around provides spectacular views from all directions.
Like many other national parks in Uganda, its wildlife is still recovering from the heavy poaching that went on in the country years ago. Unfortunately, rhinos in this area have already become extinct. However, a rhino sanctuary in the south of the Park was started and in 30 years’ time, about 40 to 50 rhinos will be able to be released back into the Park’s borders.
Day 2: Murchison Falls National Park
Start your 4 Days safari Murchison Falls National Park day with an early breakfast before heading to the northern banks of the Nile River. On the early morning game drive, you may see Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Giraffe, Hartebeests and many more. Marvel at the Nile, compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 6-metre canyon dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow, a plume of spray and the best thing that happened to the Nile…”the Murchison Falls”. Return to your lodge in time for dinner and overnight at your chosen accommodation.
