Day 1: KAMPALA – MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
You will be met by our Uganda safari rep at your hotel. You will have a brief on this 3 days Murchison Falls luxury safari in Uganda. This is to be followed by a transfer to Entebbe International Airport. Aboard your 1230hrs flight, enjoy an hour’s transfer to Pakubu Airstrip.
Upon arrival, you will be met by our driver guide. Enjoy a game drive as you are headed to Baker’s Lodge. After check in, enjoy your lunch and an afternoon nap. At 1600hrs cross the Nile as you head to the top of the falls. You will drive back with game drive en-route. Check into your Murchison falls luxury lodge in time for dinner and overnight.
About Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison Falls National Park at 3840km2 is the largest park in Uganda and is named after the Murchison falls where the mighty river Nile is forced through a narrow gorge of 8m into the ‘Devils Cauldron’ creating an ever present rainbow.
Samuel Baker the explorer considered the Murchison falls as “the most important object of the entire course of the river” named the waterfall in 1864.
The park is only 4 hours away from Kampala the capital and with all the attractions is a destination for a weekend gate-away. The habitats range from forest, savanna, riverine woodland, borassus palms, and several acacia trees.
Murchison Falls National Park lies in the northern end of the Albertine Rift Valley giving it great views of the plains and forested areas and the Victoria Nile that pours into Lake Albert. The Albert Nile Corridor is Uganda’s lowest area at 612m at the Delta.
You have opportunity to view the falls from both up as the Nile squeezes through the gorge and from below while on the boat safari on Victoria Nile. The Launch trip on Victoria Nile gives you an opportunity to experience the Nile like the actors of the 1951 film “The African Queen.”
Day 2: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK
Your day starts with a morning game drive on the northern bank. Your guide on will help you spot elephant, lion, cape buffalo and Roth child’s giraffe. Other animals to be seen include hartebeest, waterbuck, oribi, bushbuck, bohor reed buck and hyena.
On a lucky day on Murchison Falls luxury safari you may see the leopard. You will drive back to your Murchison Falls safari lodge for lunch.
At 1500hrs it will be time to go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile. This will be on a boat cruise to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the ‘Devil’s Cauldron’. Look forward to marvel at the toothsome hippos and crocodiles.
Over the 17km stretch you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also the zone of many birds, species like goliath heron, Egyptian goose and pelican. You may also see bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. Return back to Baker’s Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK – KAMPALA
After breakfast you will enjoy a mid morning game drive before check out. End your Murchison Falls luxury safari with a transfer to the airstrip. You should be in time for your 1345hrs flight back to Entebbe.
Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to your Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
