3 Day Serengeti Safari Itinerary

Day 1: ARUSHA – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Met and greet will be at your Arusha hotel by our Tanzania safari rep at 0600hrs. Have a briefing on the 3 day Serengeti safari in Tanzania. This will be followed by departure driving west to Serengeti National Park. This will be a long drive punctuated with several stops.

At Ol Duvai gorge you will visit the museum for an explanation on humanity. This is believed to be the ‘Cradle of mankind’. It is here too that you will have a break for lunch. Proceed to Serengeti where you will arrive later in the evening. Enjoy a short game drive to introduce you to the parks flora and fauna.

Among the wildlife you are likely to see are the olive baboons, vervet monkey, lions, elephants, Thompson gazelles, and common zebra among others. You will drive to Seronera Wildlife Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

The Serengeti National Park in Tanzania was established in 1952. It is home to the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The resident population of lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, and birds is also impressive.

There’s a wide variety of accommodation available, from luxury lodges to mobile camps. The park covers 5,700 sq miles, (14,763 sq km), it’s larger than Connecticut, with at most a couple hundred vehicles driving around.

The Park can be divided into 3 sections. The popular southern/central part (Seronera Valley), is what the Maasai called the “serengit”, the land of endless plains. Its classic savannah, dotted with acacias and filled with wildlife.

Day 2: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Your target are the elusive night outers that include the hyenas, civet cat, porcupine, leopard, owls and many more. These African wildlife are hard to come by during the day and you better catch them before they get into their burrows.

This will be followed by breakfast at your lodge in Serengeti National Park. Some rest will prepare you for a full day game drive within the Serengeti. This will be with picnic lunch boxes. This game drive gives you an opportunity to explore this world famous park.

The Serengeti plains are where endless streams of wildebeest and zebra move. They are either going south towards Ngorongoro or north towards the Masai Mara. This is the best place to watch the ‘big five’ among other savannah wildlife.

You will decide to edit this film that plays before you on your own as it is raw uncut. You will drive back to Seronera Wildlife Lodge in time for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: SERENGETI – ARUSHA

Start the final day of the 3 day Serengeti safari with an early an early cup of coffee. This will be followed by an early morning game drive. You will be looking for what has eluded us over the last two days. The main focus will be the nocturnal beings that reign in darkness.

You will return to the lodge for breakfast which is to be followed by departure. Today you will be driving back to Arusha and if you did pass by the Ol Duvai Gorge on your way to Serengeti, this is another opportunity not to miss. This drive will also have a stop for lunch and toilet breaks. End your 3 day Serengeti safari with a drop off at your hotel in Arusha.
